Teardown: India-Plug 20W USB-C Charger Keeps BOM Low

The Adapto 20X is a fixed-pin adapter for the Indian market, in a white flame-retardant PC shell with vertical ribbing and a single USB-C port on an orange tongue. Input is rated 180-240V at 50/60Hz and 0.6A, with output of 5V/3A, 9V/2.22A and 12V/1.67A for 20W maximum. It measures 42.73 by 41.73 by 29.30mm and weighs 41.6g, close to Apple's 20W brick.

Tested with a POWER-Z KM003C, the port advertises QC3+, FCP, SCP, AFC, PD3.0 with PPS, QC4+ and DCP. The PDO lists three fixed steps at 5V/3A, 9V/2.22A and 12V/1.67A, plus one PPS range of 5.00-11.00V at 2.00A.

On the primary side the board carries a fuse, an NTC inrush limiter, an ABS210 bridge rectifier, a 450V 15uF high-voltage electrolytic and a 50V 22uF controller supply capacitor. The LX3726 primary controller sits in SOP-8 with an integrated high-voltage switch, driving a transformer marked XED 1512-002. Isolation uses a TMY1102M SMD Y capacitor and an EL817 optocoupler.

Secondary rectification uses an LX1709 synchronous rectifier in SOP-8 with an integrated MOSFET. The protocol controller is a JD6617A, specified for USB PD3.2 SPR with PPS and AVS support, a 5-21V operating range and 3A output. A single resistor on the RPDO pin sets power and PDO from 15W to 60W, which shortens design cycles for derived models. It also integrates a VBUS discharge circuit rated near 100mA and 4kV HBM ESD protection.

Output filtering relies on a 16V 680uF solid capacitor, and white thermal glue bonds the transformer, capacitors and inductors to the board. Combining an integrated primary switch, a synchronous rectifier and a configurable protocol IC keeps the external part count low - the main cost lever in this 20W class.
