Seven Protocol Controllers Cover PD3.2 SPR AVS for iPhone 18 Pro

iPhone 18 Pro adds PD3.2 SPR AVS, and a Chinese protocol-chip vendor now lists seven controllers spanning single-C, C+A, dual-C and triple-C charger designs.

Apple's iPhone 18 Pro series has launched with adjustable voltage supply on wired charging. Bench testing shows the phones support PD3.2 SPR AVS and can reach about 50 percent charge in roughly 15 minutes when paired with a USB-C adapter rated 60W or higher that also supports AVS.

Measured with Apple's 40W dynamic adapter, charging settled at 17.35V and 2.95A, or 51.23W, with the SPR AVS protocol triggered. AVS sits within the standard power range of USB PD 3.2 and lets the supply adjust its output voltage to the device's demand rather than stepping through a fixed set of voltage profiles.

That shifts part of the compatibility burden onto the charger's protocol controller. For third-party adapters, AVS support becomes a practical requirement rather than an optional extra, on top of existing PD, PPS and UFCS handling.

One Chinese protocol-chip vendor now lists seven controllers with PD3.2 SPR AVS support: IP2723TH, IP2726H, IP2736U, IP2738U, IP2766G, IP2758 and IP2759. The parts address single-C, C+A, dual-C and triple-C port layouts, and are differentiated by input-voltage range and maximum PD output voltage.

The range extends from mainstream fast-charge grades up to 28V and 36V high-voltage platforms, giving charger developers options across different power levels and port counts. As more terminals adopt AVS, PD3.2 support and multi-port power management are likely to shape the next round of adapter designs.
