Apple's iPhone 18 Pro series now supports AVS charging, which has pushed the protocol to the top of the design checklist for power banks and USB-C adapters. Chip vendors are widening their protocol-IC portfolios to cover the standard power range mode, or SPR AVS, defined in USB PD 3.2.
One Chinese fast-charging chip vendor now lists four protocol-IC families with SPR AVS support, spanning single-port USB-C, 2C1A and 2A1C product formats. The parts are positioned as highly integrated controllers that cut the component count around the power stage.
The HUSB370 is a USB-C PD source controller supporting USB PD 3.2, PPS and SPR AVS while integrating an MCU, N-MOSFET, current sensing and constant-voltage/constant-current control. It also covers QC, AFC, FCP, SCP and UFCS, suiting single-port chargers and car chargers.
The HUSB380B-CXXXX series supports PD3.2 with 15V and 20V SPR AVS and integrates the VBUS power switch and a current-sense resistor, plus NTC temperature detection, dynamic power scaling and Chip-Link support. Package options span roughly 45W to 65W designs.
For multi-port products, the HUSB385A supports 2C1A or 2A1C layouts with 15V and 20V SPR AVS. It integrates multiple N-MOSFETs, current sensing and an I2C interface that can read per-port voltage, current and protocol status and adjust power limits dynamically, which suits multi-port chargers, car chargers and power strips.
The HUSB363A uses an MCU architecture with USB PD 3.2, PPS and several DPDM fast-charge protocols, an 11-bit ADC and high-voltage N-MOSFET gate drive. External MOSFETs form the power path, giving designers more freedom in layout.
