TEARDOWNTeardown: Lenovo 150W GaN Adapter Uses PFC Plus HFB Stage
Lenovo's MCFX150A3 pairs two 140W USB-C ports with a 65W port inside a 150W budget, using PD3.2 AVS, 28V/5A EPR and a two-stage PFC plus HFB converter.

Lenovo's MCFX150A3 is a three-port USB-C GaN adapter rated 150W in total. The first two ports each deliver up to 140W at 28V/5A, while the third tops out at 65W at 20V/3.25A. With all three loaded the budget splits as 65W, 65W and 20W, and two-port use falls into 100W plus 45W or 75W plus 65W combinations.
The port set covers PD3.2 with PPS and AVS, QC3+ and QC5, plus Lenovo and Motorola proprietary fast-charge modes. Input is 100-240V at 2.0A, and the unit carries 3C certification with a three-pin grounded plug whose contacts are nickel-plated.
Inside, the converter follows a two-stage PFC plus HFB architecture, with the primary controller and the GaN switching devices both coming from a single European semiconductor vendor. The PCBA is wrapped in copper heat spreaders on both faces. Lenovo rates continuous full-load output at 40 degrees Celsius, a 1.5x peak-power margin and leakage current at one-fifth of the Chinese national standard limit.
In an earlier 60-hour run at 28V/5A, roughly 140W, the output held without derating and the case peaked at about 62 degrees Celsius. The chassis measures 83.82 x 65.10 x 32.87mm and weighs 305.3g. The bundled 180cm cable is 4.32mm in diameter, weighs 73.5g and carries a 240W e-marker.
Measured loads confirm the ratings: a Legion Y9000X IAX10 drew 19.68V/6.67A, about 131.2W, on PD3.0; a MacBook drew 27.66V/4.93A, about 136.5W, in the 140W EPR range; and the 65W port delivered 19.77V/3.22A, about 63.6W. With two ports loaded the outputs read 58.7W and 62.1W.
