Teardown: TORRAS CQ34 60W GaN Charger With Smart Display

A teardown of the TORRAS smart-display 60W GaN charger, model CQ34, shows a compact single-port design built on a stacked multi-board PCBA. The body measures about 36.86 mm by 36.11 mm by 44.90 mm, and its foldable pins follow the new Chinese national plug standard.

Rated output is 60W from a 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 1.3A input, with fixed 5V to 20V steps and AVS ranges of 9-15V/3A and 15-20V/2.25A. Testing with a POWER-Z KM003C found QC3.0, FCP, SCP, AFC, PD3.2/AVS/PPS, QC4+, DCP and Apple 2.4A support, plus a 5.00-11.00V/3.00A PPS range and a 9-20V/3.00A AVS range in the PDO report.

A live charging test read 14.65V, 2.62A and 38.46W, while the display showed the attached device name, 40W and 22 percent battery. The front screen is touch-controlled: tapping the top area cycles animated expressions, a double tap shows status and a two-second long press turns it off. A vibration motor provides haptic feedback.

The PCBA is a stacked small-board structure potted with white compound and held by a custom transparent frame, with a thermal pad spreading heat to the shell and mylar insulating the foldable pin module. Measured PCBA dimensions are about 37.61 mm by 35.89 mm by 35.11 mm.

On the primary side the controller is a Kiwi Instruments KP22086 from the KP2208X series, an integrated E-GaN quasi-resonant AC/DC device rated to 220 kHz with sub-30 mW standby. Input filtering uses two Koshin 400V 33 uF capacitors, four RS4MBF bridge diodes and a KX-ATQ19-2001 transformer. Secondary circuitry uses a Kiwi KP4070 synchronous rectifier controller, an AGMsemi AGM308AP 30V 6.2 mOhm VBUS switch, a 25V 470 uF ymin output capacitor and a Puya PY25Q128HA 128 Mbit NOR flash.
